Wedding Dress Inspiration

Wedding dress shopping is one of the most fun parts of planning a wedding! I love seeing beautiful dresses that my brides wear. I wanted to share a couple of my recent favorites with you guys and ask where you guys have been shopping!

Lace & Details

The lace details on the back of this dress were STUNNING. Lace is always a classic! For brides who have dreamt of a traditional wedding, including the classic wedding gown, lace is always a good idea. I love seeing how brides make these classic styles their own by adding veils and hair pieces that speak to you. One reason I am so drawn to the classic wedding dress is because they never go out of style. Twenty years from now, you will look at these classic wedding gowns and think they are just as beautiful then as they are today.

Classic Fabrics

This dress was another one of my recent favorites. It was elegant and dramatic at the same time without being over the top. The mixture of satin textures and tulle made for a beautiful dress. Designers use specific materials to create these wedding gowns; these materials are in themselves a statement. Whether you choose satin, organza, charmeuse, silk, or chiffon — or likely some combination of these materials — no one, including your groom, will be able to take their eyes off you.

Common Wedding Dress Fabrics

• Satin

  Satin is actually not a fabric, but a finish. Almost any fabric can be made to have a satin finish, but we commonly think of silk, polyester, or a blend of the two being satin. Many brides choose satin because of how common and versatile it is. It is considered one of the most durable fabrics used to make wedding dresses. Satin also compliments all body types because it provides support. Since satin is a thicker material, brides who get married during the cooler months might appreciate that it will keep them warmer.

• Chiffon

  Chiffon is a very lightweight and sheer fabric. It is often layered or used as an overlay for dresses to add a delicate touch. Brides should choose chiffon if you want a weightless, elegant look. Watch out for snags with chiffon, though!

• Tulle

  Tulle is a very light, netted fabric that also has an airy fabric. Some tulle incorporates designs and lace. Some ball gown wedding dresses incorporate tulle for a fuller skirt. Brides looking for a fairytale wedding can be seen wearing tulle wedding dresses. Incredibly delicate, this material is also prone to snagging.

• Lace

  I know I already touched on lace a little bit, but lace is a super common wedding gown fabric. Usually, lace is used as an overly or to add detail to a gown. There is a beautiful variety of lace and each type is typically named after the city it was originally made in. No matter which variety of lace is your favorite, you will find some elegant and classic options.

Jewelry + Accessories

I have to mention this bride’s ensemble because of all the amazing jewelry and accessories she wore. Notice the pearl details on her veil. I have never seen a unique veil quite like hers. Her hair piece was another beautiful detail. She also chose jewelry that brought her whole wedding-day outfit together.
