Lydia and Hunter’s South Dakota Engagement Session

Luke and I were SO excited when Lydia and Hunter reached out to us. As soon as I saw their information, I knew I wanted to work with them. In their words, they are “both kind-hearted people with some sass!” Getting to know them better as they plan their wedding has been so fun. We absolutely love being able to capture this special moment leading up to Hunter and Lydia’s wedding. We wanted an outdoorsy look for this engagement session, so we headed to Palisades.

As many of you know, Palisades State Park in Garretson, SD is one of our favorite locations for engagement sessions. Not only is it conveniently located right outside of Sioux Falls, but it is gorgeous year-round. (Check out sessions from every season at Palisades:  Winter | Spring | Summer | Fall). Palisades has a unique and signature backdrop of eroded pink Sioux Quartzite, creating cliffs and rock formations. In the winter, the cliffs create a gorgeous contrast against the snow. In the spring, the lush wildlife comes to life with dazzling bright greens. In the summer, the creek that runs through the cliffs sparkles in the summer light. In the fall, the autumn colors and golden hour lighting creates a magical atmosphere for photos!
