83% of Brides Still Do This...
I’m a sucker for the Brides.com wedding trend reports (I mean— who isn’t?). I especially love keeping track of wedding dress trends. I see all sorts of gorgeous wedding gowns in my line of work and it is so interesting to see the yearly trends. There are countless style options, from Bohemian to classic lace and everything in between. Your wedding gown is a way for you to express yourself as a bride. So what do the stats say?
Sticking to Old Trends
According to a survey done by Brides.com, 83% of brides still choose a traditional white or off-white dress. In 2017, this number was 92%, so the number of brides wearing a white dress is still high comparatively speaking, but it is going down. On the other hand, the number of brides opting for a veil rose from 47% in 2017 to 76% in 2018! Maybe it was something in the water or maybe it was Meghan Markle’s glamorous trend-setter that did the trick.
Embracing New Trends
While white dresses and veils seemed to keep their popularity last year, jumpsuits and separates are steadily becoming more popular. The number rose from just 7% of brides opting for a jumpsuit or separate to 14%— the percentage doubled!
Leave Room in Your Budget
Another interesting trend we saw last year was a rise in how much the average bride is willing to spend on her gown. The average rose from $1,562 in 2017 to $2,260 in 2018! Make sure and leave enough room in your budget for your gown!
